Sutras of Earth Store Dharma Door
There are three sutras that form the Earth Store Dharma Door: the Sutra of the Ten Wheels
of Earth Store Bodhisattva, the Sutra for the Discernment of the Consequences of Wholesome and Unwholesome Karma and the Sutra of the Past Vows of Earth Store Bodhisattva. Their abbreviated titles are: Earth Store’s Ten Wheel Sutra, Discernment Sutra and Earth Store Sutra.
Earth Store Bodhisattva Statue
Name of the sculptor: Qi-fu Wang
I emphasize the beauty of the Bodhisattva's adorned features as an embodiment of the Dharma. Its simple lines complement the colors. The right triangular outline exhibits composure and grace and symbolizes the vast vows of Earth Store Bodhisattva.
Reflections on the work:
We humans should keep our minds tranquil as the Earth, nurturing all life forms unconditionally. Acting effortlessly, the Earth is impartial, honorable and unattached. Humans should live in harmony with the world. We must safeguard our original mind. The essence of the Buddha is Tao. The essence of Tao is the Buddha. This is to say that being able to see one's true nature is to realize Buddhahood. The nature is our original Buddha nature, which we must learn appreciate on our own. Earth Store Bodhisattva is like the Earth that contains countless seeds of goodness.
